How to choose the perfect gift

things you'll need:

  • knowlegde of the person receiving gift
  • time (to shop or make gift)
  • resources (items to make gift or financial ability)
    • 1
When possible, ask the person directly if there is anything they want or need. This is great, as you know the person will be happy with the gift.
    • 2
If you don't know a specific gift, think about what you know about the person who will be receiving the gift. What do they like: flowers, family, candles, cologne, art, jewelry, photos, books, music, sports, etc?
    • 3
If you are unsure, ask someone who might know more information.
    • 4
Next, decide your budget. Even if you can identify the perfect gift, but can't afford it, then you are back to square 1.
    • 5
If there is a specific item you believe is perfect, but out of budget, see if anyone else would like to go in on the gift. Many large ticket items are purchased as gifts this way.
    • 6
Decide if you are going to make gift or purchase gift.
    • 7
If you are making gift, make sure you have supplies and time needed to finish your project.
    • 8
If you purchase gift, obtain a gift receipt. The receipt is security that if person already has item, received more than 1 of item, or by chance, does not like item, they have an option.
    • 9
Gift cards are more than acceptable. Although they may not feel personal, it allows the person to get something they really like. This is a good thing, as it is the whole point of the gift, right?
